Are you taking leave over the holiday period?

Are you taking leave over the holiday period?

It's almost time for many people's leave to commence and we bet everyone cannot wait to clock off for the holidays...

One week into December and we feel like the holiday mood has officially caught everyone.

With the second week around the corner, we find many companies drawing to a close, wrapping things up and preparing for their leave.

Sadly, not everyone gets to close for the holidays and that depends largely on the type of work that you do. But the upside is that with the jolly mood in the air, everyone hopefully will feel the upside of the holidays.

While we are on the topic, we think it's important to let you know now that Stacey and J Sbu and the Drive team will be on leave from the 15th of December 2023 and will return on the 15th of January 2024.

As much as we all look forward to this time of year, it can be difficult when you don't get to have a break.

Because without a break, no one ends up enjoying the holiday because they have to hear you moan about working through the fun times.

In case you were wondering about the law surrounding your annual leave, you can check out some videos by Legal Leader South Africa on YouTube

Here are some tips on things to do before you take leave from work:

  • Make sure your managers and co-workers know when you are going to be on leave.
  • Do a handover with whoever will be covering for you while you are away. Make sure you have this sent over email.
  • Clear out your table and leave it fresh for when you return from your break.
  • Make sure to set an out-of-office reply so that anyone trying to reach you knows who to contact and when you will be back.
  • Take some time to clean out your mailbox and your desktop because no one wants to return to work with an untidy desktop or mailbox.
