Young Umlazi executive appointed BRICS steering committee member

I recently heard the tale of Bright Hlongwane, who has been working hard in the hopes of contributing to change, and I knew I had to get in touch with him.

Young people aspiring to be leaders, those who want to promote positive change and economic growth, need good examples.

They need role models that show them not only can it be done, but how to do it as well.

Now let me introduce you to Mr. Bright Hlongwane.

Hlongwane is the chief executive officer at Isimangaliso Group, Pty Ltd, a media company located in Umlazi.

But that's not all, for someone in his early twenties, he has accomplished quite a lot.

He has chaired the following boards:

  • Indlulamithi Communications
  • Youth in Business South Africa
  • Black Youth Business Council
  • Grind Circle
  • Black Management Forum

He has also given a speech at the 2019 United Nations Economic and Social Council Youth Forum in New York, was accepted into Stanford University’s TrepCamp Advanced Programme, and received the KwaZulu-Natal Young Achievers’ award.

So it should come as no surprise that he has been appointed as a new steering committee member for the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry Young Leaders.

Bright has promised entrepreneurs and young people that he will be providing sustainable support from the youth wing of the BRICS as a member of the steering committee, as there are huge challenges when it comes to government financing of youth businesses.

Take a listen below as Bright and I discuss the lack of private-public partnerships between the government and the youth and how YIBSA (Youth In Business South Africa) acknowledges that many youth-run businesses are not yet at a bankable stage.
