Mrs Right Guy earned more than R1-million during its opening weekend, according to figures released this week.
The rom-com finished in the Top 5 movies this past weekend - ahead of The Perfect Match, starring US actress Paula Patton.
The films standing in the way of Mrs Right Guy claiming the top spot were X Men – Apocalypse, Angry Birds, Alice Through The Looking Glass, and Money Monster.
Mrs Right Guy's success is hot on the heels of another South African movie.
Earlier this year, Happiness is a Four-letter Word earned R2,371,782 in its opening weekend.
