Young man saves woman's life at shopping centre
Updated | By East Coast Drive
This is one of those stories that will restore your faith in humanity.
On 28 April Nicole and her 6-year-old son. Mikey went to Cedar Square shopping centre in Fourways.
Nicole met a friend there too, and before they part ways, Nicole was stung by a bee.
She didn't worry much as she had been stung before with no side-effects.
Not this time.
A short while later, Nicole found herself collapsed on the ground, unresponsive, struggling to breathe.
Passers-by did tried their best to help, but to no avail and Nicole was sure she was about to die.
This is when Obakeng Seutane ran towards Nicole and knelt beside her, put her hands behind her head to open her windpipe.
Obakeng rushed Nicole and Mikey to hospital where where she was taken to the emergency theatre as her body was now completely shutting down.
Staff at the hospital expected the worst, but were able to save Nicole's life.
If it weren't for the quick-thinking Obekeng and his willingness to help, Nicole might not have been alive to tell the tale.
Nicole says, "He has given me my life, restored my faith in the youth of South Africa and in fact humanity as a whole and I can honestly say that he has made me see life in a completely different way! Thank you, Obakeng, there are no words to describe my gratitude!”
A week later, Nicole was able to meet and thank Obakeng for an absolute hero.
