A mother's chance meeting with Bongani this past weekend has turned into a story that the Drive team are trying to champion to make one girl's dream come true.

In case you missed the story, Bongani was recently the emcee at the recent African Renaissance Concert when he was approached by Thathakahle Mkhabela, who told him about her daughter Anikwa's dancing opportunity to go to the USA.

Anikwa is a Northlands High student, and has been selected to go to Los Angeles for the World Championships of Performing Arts. One snag - she needs R47,000 to go to the event in July.

We caught up with her mom on Monday to find out more about her inspiring daughter. In case you missed it, listen to that chat below:

We then asked Anikwa to join us in studio to talk more about her passion for dance, and what it will mean for her if this dream comes true.

She was joined by two of her friends and a family member.

We also had the opportunity to witness her dance live at our reception, and we were impressed by what we saw.

To find out more, listen to the podcast above.

At the time of writing, R6,250.58 has been pledged towards her trip, but she still has a long way to go. We need your help! If you can assist, please visit her BackaBuddy page to donate now
