Former Proteas batsman Gary Kirsten has donated 300 licenses to

Kirsten spoke to East Coast Drive amid South Africa’s Coronavirus-enforced 35 day lockdown. He’d been on holiday with his family near Breede River since before the country went into lockdown and decided to extend his stay for the remainder of the confinement period.
Kirsten, who guided India to World Cup glory in 2011 as their head
coach, told East Coast Drive that the timing of the launch of the CoachED
platform happened to coincide with the national lockdown and that it presented
an opportunity to upskill some of the country’s coaching talent that are
currently living in townships.
The former Proteas batsman and coach also weighed in on the work
that Mark Boucher has done since taking over as coach of the national team in
December 2019.
Kirsten was particularly complimentary of Boucher and Director of
Cricket Graeme Smith and the way they have handled a particularly trying time
in the history of South African cricket.
