Doctors make desperate plea to Ramaphosa to end hard lockdown

Doctors and other medical practitioners are calling on President Cyril Ramaphosa to end to the current hard lockdown, which is in place to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The doctors argue that a continued hard lockdown will do greater harm to South Africa’s healthcare system and economy, and will just merely delay the inevitable spread of the virus.

In a signed letter, the doctors praised Ramaphosa for his management of the outbreak so far, but go on to say that if the hard lockdown does not end soon, the country’s healthcare system will suffer a backlog from which it may never recover.
