Bongani and Mags heard both sides of the story from the parents who had to find out about their child's sexuality, and from the children who had to come out to their parents.

June marks Pride month, a month dedicated to the LGBTIQ community.  

We thought we would celebrate it by asking listeners to tell us their stories - as parents about their experiences when their children came out as gay, and also as the gay person - how difficult it was to tell their parents.

A lot of parents battle when it comes to their children coming out - especially if they as parents feel they will look a certain way in front of family members or close friends.

Many gay people are sometimes terrified to say anything, especially because they don't know if they'll be accepted or disowned as a result of their lifestyle.
