Kaizer Chiefs management must respect the fans

Kaizer Chiefs fans performed acts of hooliganism after the match against Baroka FC and I think it's about time the management of the club took the right steps going forward.

This week, Eggs Benedict relays what he saw at Moses Mabhida Stadium after the match between Kaizer Chiefs and Baroka FC. Listen to the podcast and read more in the blog below.

Kaizer Chiefs once again lost this past weekend, going down 2-1 to Baroka FC after taking an early lead in the match.

After the match at Moses Mabhida Stadum, the fans were shouting "Steve Must Fall" and started to hit and shove the tunnel extension which had to be pulled to the field so that the coach could walk out safely.

The fans then tried to burn it and a fight between them and the police, who were trying to protect the coach, ensued.

Ever since Steve Komphela took over the coaching reins in the middle of 2015, the team hasn't won a single trophy and I think it's down to the quality of players he has at his disposal.

Remember, when Stuart Baxter left it was due to the team wanting to cut costs and refusing to give players like Mandla Masango and Tefu Mashamaite, who had won the Player of the Season award, salary increases.

Amakhosi haven't really bought quality players during Komphela's tenure and I think he's a scapegoat for the team's stinginess.

They must start buying quality players that can challenge for honours and show some respect to fans who pay their hard-earned money to watch games.

The hooliganism is not justifiable but I understand where the anger comes from.
