Violence in football tackled
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The powers that be in the beautiful game must take swift action to curb violence in the field of play.
The 2-2 draw between Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur last night handed Leicester City the league title but the jam-packed encounter was marred by unsportsman like conduct.
There were a lot of brawls during and after the game.
We saw Chelsea's Willian taunting Spurs players by patting on Chelsea's champions badge. What happened to respecting your opponent!
During the same match, Mousa Dembele poking Willian's eye!
Watch the incident below:
Spurs' Delle Alli has also been suspended for the remainder of the season for puncheng Claudio Yacob against West Bromwich Albion.
Alli had just won the PFA Young Player of the Year Award.
All these incidents prove that harsher sentences need to be handed to those involved.
Some players do not care because paying fines does not hit hard in their pockets. They earn a lot of money.
Suspensions are also relatively short. How can banning someone for three matches serve as a deterrent to would-be offenders?
I think docking teams points would be a deterrent. Every player would think twice about letting the whole team down.
Teams can also make sure that they teach their players how to behave.
What do you think?
