UPDATE: Earthquake (unconfirmed) that hit KZN, Durban remains unverified by Geoscience

There are multiple reports on social media of residents experiencing a shaking of some sort around 4am in the KZN, Durban area, lasting for about 2 to 3 seconds.
An alleged earthquake or 'tremor' - as some are calling it - hit KZN, Durban in the early hours of the morning on June 17, 2021. Social media has been a-buzz with residents in different parts of Durban sharing their experiences.
Earthquake Alert on Facebook has also shared these numbers:
Local time at epicenter: 17 Jun 4:01 am (GMT +2)
Hypocenter depth: 10.0 km
Magnitude: 3.8

We asked people on Facebook to decipher which parts experienced it more intensely and also to verify whether it was an earthquake or as a result of the blasting taking place on the N2.
Phoenix, Verulam, Newlands West, Tongaat and Inanda are the areas with the most people sharing their experience of the earthquake. Pinetown is also one fo the areas with people reporting to have felt the earthquake.

It is reported to have possibly lasted for approximately 2 -3 seconds and here is a description of what those seconds felt like:

Keri Miller alerted the team in our WhtsApp group that an alleged earthquake had taken place in KZN.

We await confirmation from from local authourities regarding this matter.

And there has been communication from The Council for Geoscience sharing that they do not have any record of the earthquake that allegedly shook parts of KwaZulu-Natal in the early hours of this morning.
"We are receiving unverified early reports of seismic activity in or near Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on June 17, 2021, at about 2.01am (GMT)," the Earthquake site reported.
Meanwhile, KZN Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) MEC Sipho Hlomuka has called for calm.
It does seem that should anyone have experienced the eartquake or tremor they should submit here.
