In a surprising turn of events, Duane Vermeulen, the seasoned and influential forward, has been entrusted with the responsibility of leading the team onto the field.

Adding to the anticipation is the inclusion of debutant and former Ireland international Jean Kleyn in the starting lineup, marking a significant milestone in his rugby journey.

Our sports guru, Sky Tshabalala, had his say about the team, also letting the people know why watching the Springbok back three will be exciting for the people at Loftus Versfeld stadium.

Here's the video that's been making the rounds:

Vermeulen leads a team that features a core of 2019 Rugby World Cup winners and talented newcomers who have excelled at vital moments in the past few seasons.

Flyhalf Manie Libbok and loose forward Marco van Staden will start for the first time, having previously made three and 10 Test appearances, respectively, as replacements.

Exciting Vodacom Bulls wingers Canan Moodie and Kurt-Lee Arendse will play in front of their home fans, with the experienced Willie le Roux serving as the last line of defence at fullback.

While Lukhanyo Am returns to renew a former Cell C Sharks provincial partnership with Andre Esterhuizen.

Flyhalf Elton Jantjies, prop Trevor Nyakane, and scrumhalf Herschel Jantjies will remain with the team to assist in their preparations for Saturday’s season opener and to provide cover if necessary, meaning the coaches will have a group of 26 players to work with this week.
