Sky Tshabalala catches up with Makazole Mapimpi nine months after World Cup win
Updated | By Darren, Keri and Sky
The Springbok star has been a household name since making history on 2 November 2019 at the Rugby World Cup.
Known as 'Drex' or 'Derex' to some, but introduced to the world as Makazole Mapimpi, this professional rugby star was born in the Eastern Cape in the urban township of Mdantsane.
Mapimpi wrote his name into the history books when he became the first South African to score a try in a World Cup final when the Springboks clinched the Webb Ellis Cup in 2019 against England.

Wasting no time, Sky wanted to understand and also clear the confusion about his nickname: "Is it Drex or Derex and how did that nickname come about?"
Sky and Mapimpi continued to chat about his newfound love for cooking, which he has been doing more of since the lockdown.
