McCain green beans; Spar-brand frozen stir fry recalled after glass pieces found

We want to give you a heads up on these McCain recalled items and some of the Spar-branded French stir fry. 

There has been a discovery of glass fragments in some of the frozen foods.

The company shared that it had found "the source of the material, confirming it to be small glass fragments originating from a light fitting"

They have not yet shared in detail how the glass ended up in packages, or how and why it had not been detected before shipment.

The recalled products were all produced between July and October 2021, and all carry a best-before date in 2023.

The recall is a voluntary, national one. Affected products had already been pulled from retailers' freezers, the company said on Tuesday.

Specific batches of frozen vegetables are affected, and buyers will have to check the fine-print details of manufacturing to see if any in their home freezers are included.

Consumers with affected products should return it to the store they bought it from, in return for a voucher, McCain said.
