The sardines are here! (KZN REPORT)
Updated | By ECR
They're here! The annual Sardine Run has kicked off with a bang with first sardine sightings and catches on Sunday along the KZN South Coast, specifically at Margate and Hibberdene.
Depending on the wind direction, we could see them in Durban by next weekend.
"It all depends on how this wind direction goes, and if the sea temperature remains constant at 19 degrees," says Angler News South Africa podcast host Vinesh Soogreem.
Reports from coastal spotters led to successful hauls, with Jace Govender bringing in 500 crates of sardines.
In the latest ANSA podcast below, Vinesh addresses commonly asked questions about marine life activity linked to the Sardine Run, sardine availability and pricing, and their current and predicted locations.
