Why did Sammy the seal cross the road?

Sammy the seal pops out of the water across the road from the shop almost every day to see if he can score any scraps of fish and chips.

Some days he scores it lucky with a free meal, and other times they have to chase him back into the water for his own safety if there's too many cars on the road.

As this video show's Sammy should probably look both ways before crossing the road in future, but he did show some nonce by jumping in the water when some dogs walk past, before jumping out again once they are led away!
