SA unites over fake racist profile - Tanya Smit

Unlike the Penny Sparrow incident that divided the country, 'Tanya Smit' has brought the country together to fight fake racist social media accounts.

The case of Penny Sparrow had the country divided after she posted racist remarks on her Facebook page, and referred to Black South Africans as monkeys. The case of Penny Sparrow had the country divided after she posted racist remarks on her Facebook page, and referred to Black South Africans as "monkeys".

This saw an increase of racial reactions on social media, followed by a series of events after that.

Well, a new Facebook profile that has gone viral for rather embarrassing reasons is the page of an alleged racist 'Tanya Smit'. She 'allegedly' wrote a very controversial post that got South African's heated on the afternoon where votes from local elections were being counted.

The post went viral in a matter on minutes and the truth about the account was revealed. This is what the post said: (Caution - racist comments)

After the post went viral, people started speculating whether the page was a fake account which later came to light that it was.

Here are some of the comments on the post that proved that this country will not let social media controversies divide the country and it's people:

Kyale Boatwright wrote “It’s a fake account! It was created by a guy by the name of Siphe Mzaidume! They traced the I.P address”

Norbert Fuhr agreed “Ive saw that too .. i dont think she is real .. i personally think its a fake profile .. none the less i’ve reported her to my mates on the Budget/Avis Executive Board .. they are already investigating”

Grant Harris stated “It’s a fake account, someone born in 1991. And looks like that and has no photos the accounts fake don’t waste your time with this sh**t”

Jason Karem made a valid point “We all need to widen up. There’s 100s of these mofos out there that creep onto our profiles. We wouldn’t let them in our houses so why on our Facebooks? Could be a violent criminal.

Kyale Boatwright “It was shared by person named Ncediwe Deejay Linc from JHB. I’m just making people aware so that there is no social rejection against the elections an the results. Racism is at such a high and if the youth can help I think we should all be heard and stand up against racism so we ALL have a future in S.A”

But the plot thickens! It seems that the only person Tanya Smit has ever communicated with was Siphe Mzaidume.

The name should sound familiar as he's the cricketer that tricked international media into believing that he had been awarded a contract to play overseas, only to find out he hadn’t even played in provisional cricket in South Africa.

Ever since his cricket scandal, he's gone on to create fake social media profiles to stir trouble.

An online witch hunt is under way to catch Siphe and other culprits who use social media to implicate fake people and fake stories to stir controversy. It's great to see that people are coming together to unearth the truth and make sure that everyone is aware that fake profiles like this exist.
