The festive season is upon us and that means some tight-knit family time. 

Get ready for aunties and uncles to be up in your grill. Brace yourself for comments from loved ones and, most importantly, be prepared to face the wrath of your in-laws. 

Spending time with family can be incredible and while most people have pleasant experiences, for others it can be a double-edged sword.

It is important to remember that no matter what situation you face, there is always recourse. 

Darren Maule and Carmen Reddy, who have different relationships with their in-laws, have shared some much-needed advice for during the season of giving (or taking, for others). Check it out here:

As shared by the duo, spending time with family isn’t a sprint, it’s a marathon. 

Carmen’s hot tip for avoiding conflict is to stay away from congested, conversational areas. These include the kitchen, the braai area, the living room etc. Additionally, having a phone in hand or AirPods activated can eliminate any chance you get pulled into doing chores or interacting with family.

Darren, on the other hand, reckons that you should always reinforce that you love your family. Kill them with kindness. This is tried and tested by our East Coast Radio jock.
