Is this really Liverpool's year?

Liverpool are now eight points clear at the summit of the English Premier League standings - but can they go all the way?

We discuss Liverpool's league title pursuit. Listen to the podcast and read more in the blog below.

The Scousers last won the league title in 1990 and ever since they are known for choking at the critical phase of the season.

Last season they collected a massive 97 points, but Manchester City managed a whopping 98 points to pip them to the coveted prize.

That made them the best ever runners-up and the only team to collect more than 90 points and fail to win the title.

Ever since winning the league title 29 years ago, Liverpool have topped the standings at Christmas and failed to go on to lift the title on three occasions, which rarely happens in the Premier League.

I think it's too early for any glory talk, as they still have to play second-placed Manchester City twice, which could potentially cut the gap down to two points.
