7 Players Pirates should offload

The arrival of Muhsin Ertugral at Orlando Pirates signals the beginning of a new era and these are the players that he must get rid of.

1. Sifiso Myeni. He is a great ball player but the 28-year-old is injury prone. Over the last couple of years his contribution has been minimal.

2. Felipe Ovono. The Equatorial Guinean has proved to be a poor goalkeeper. He failed dismally to cement a place in the starting line-up when Brighton Mhlongo was injured. He can stop shots but his unable to deal with crosses and set-pieces.

3. Siyabonga Mpotshane. This goalkeeper also lacks big match temperament. He is good for a small team like Platinum Stars where he used to play but not for a big team like The Mighty Buccaneers.

4. Gift Motupa. Regular scorer at South African under 23 team but he doesn't gel with Pirates players. I don't see him as a potential superstar. He is just there to add numbers.

5. Yasser Mugerwa. Everyone knows that this Ugandan midfielder has an amazing workrate but he lacks the football brain. He just runs with the ball and dribbles past players only for the final touch to let him down.

6. Rooi Mahamutsa. He is 34-years old and makes a lot of mistakes. He is a no-nonsense defender which is good at times but he overdoes it. With the arrival of a great centre-back like Abbubaker Mobara he will not gain any game time.

7. Thamsanqa Gabuza. No talent whatsoever. Bafana Bafana coach, Shakes Mashaba has made him look good but we all know he only scores against Kaizer Chiefs and when he is playing for Bafana. He normally misses sitters. The other option would be to use him as a back up defender like coach Ertugral used to do at Golden Arrows.
