Pitch conditions are a lame excuse by Steve Komphela
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
The Kaizer Chiefs coach has run out of ideas and here are four reasons why complaining about the pitch is a lame excuse.
Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Steve Komphela, complained about the pitch as his side played out a 1-1 draw with Bloemfontein Celtic in the Free State.
Off the back of a 1-0 defeat at the hands of SuperSport United, Chiefs' poor run of form continued as they relinquished a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 against Bloemfontein Celtic over the weekend.
The match took place at the Free State Stadium and Komphela blamed the pitch for the result.
Here are my reasons why blaming the pitch is just an excuse:
1. The pitch is up to PSL standard: There is absolutely nothing wrong with the surface as all pitches are inspected by officials before matches take place.
2. Both teams experienced the same conditions: Why did Celtic not have the same problem?
3. It's not the first time Chiefs have disappointed: Chiefs have not won a trophy in two years. Maybe the pitch wasn't the problem?
4. It's Celtic's home game: They can do whatever they like with the pitch, as long as it's not against the rules.
