New #SaveWater mascot has got people splashing in fear

We officially have a mascot to accompany the #SaveWater campaign, but according to some, it doesn't look very friendly...

Mascots and animated characters are a huge drawcard for kids and a great marketing and educational tool used to create awareness.
The recent drought in Cape Town has got the entire country rallying towards a #SaveWater campaign, as the importance of water is now on everyone's mind.

Splash, the official mascot, was unveiled on Thursday as part of the country’s #SaveWater campaign, which aims to educate the masses as the Mother City moves closer towards #DayZero.
However, the unveiling of the 'friendly' character was not very well received by those on social media:
