MTN and Vodacom in hot water, what does this mean?
The Competition Commission has ruled that the two cellular
giants, MTN and Vodacom must reduce their data prices within the next two
months, or face prosecution. Jan Vermeuel, Editor at large at Mybroadband,
spoke to the team.
Commissioner Tembinkosi Bonakele announced on Monday 2 December that stringent measures will be taken against the two companies if they do not comply with the ruling.
“Failure to reach this agreement within two months, will then lead the commission in going ahead with the prosecution with excessive pricing or other exclusionary abuse before the Tribunal,” added Bonakele.
