#LifeHacksByKeri: From 'toilet brush' to new toothbrush
Updated | By Keri Miller
Keri shares her first life hack for the year on how you can easily and economically turn an old toothbrush into a brand new one!
It's our vey first life hack for the year and this one is something so simple yet so effective and will probably save you a few extra bucks.
If you are brushing your teeth with a toothbrush that looks like it should be cleaning the loo rather than your mouth, then this is for you.
What you will need:
- A frayed toothbrush
- A heat resistant bowl
- Boiling water
How it's done:
- Bring about two cups of water to a boil.
- Pour the steaming hot water into a bowl. (The size of the bowl doesn’t matter, just be sure that you’re using something heat resistant like glass or ceramic)hold onto the handle of your toothbrush FIRMLY and stir the water with your toothbrush (as if you’re gently stirring pasta sauce) *remember it is BOILING water so go carefully after a minute check on your bristles, you should already see a noticeable improvement.
- Now to add to the awesomeness of this hack, the boiling water ALSO rids your toothbrush of the germs.
- Continue stirring until your
toothbrush looks like new…. Easy!
Note: if spending a whole minute doing this seems
like waaaaaay too much work. There is an even easier way… if you own a
dishwasher. YES, A DISHWASHER. All you need to do is give your toothbrush a
rinse in hot water and place it in your dishwater utensil holder with the
bristles facing up.
The good news is, after this toothbrush touch up (if all bristles stay intact) the toothbrush will be just as effective as when you originally bought it.
Save yourself a few bucks and try this one out!
