KZN man torches car over R200 loan drama
Updated | By East Coast Breakfast / Skyye Ndlovu
This KZN man (now wanted) set his neighbours car on fire over a R200 loan. Did he overreact?

You know things have gone off the rails when a R200 loan dispute turns into a full-blown action movie in Waterloo, KwaZulu-Natal.
According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), what started as a simple “Hey, can I borrow two hundred?” situation spiralled into a low-budget action movie this weekend.
Here’s the tea: on Saturday, June 28, a man rocked up to his neighbour’s house demanding repayment of a R200 loan allegedly given to her husband.
Now, R200 these days can barely buy you a takeaway.
For this guy though, it was apparently worth going full John Wick.
Armed with a firearm (again - for R200), the man allegedly threatened to shoot through a wooden door while the terrified woman and her three children hid inside.
She frantically called her husband, who quickly sent the money, probably faster than any EFT has ever cleared in history.
You’d think that would be the end of it, right? Wrong.
Just after midnight on Sunday, when most people are sleeping off their Saturday night shenanigans, our financially frustrated vigilante allegedly came back.
This time, instead of knocking, he tried to force his way inside.
When the family called for help, the man took his frustration out on the nearest available target: a poor, innocent red VW Jetta.
He reportedly smashed a window and torched the car before disappearing into the night (probably to check if the R200 had reflected).
The car? Toasted. The suspect? Still on the run.

RUSA says investigations are ongoing, and somewhere in KZN, a man is probably explaining to his friends why a R200 grudge led to arson charges.
Let this be a lesson. If you owe someone money… maybe just pay it back.
At the very least, make sure your car’s parked at a friend’s house.
