Keri's Wellness Wednesday: Cancer fighting foods

October is Cancer Awareness month, and today we highlight food that can protect our bodies and help fight cancer.

There is no 'cure all' food that magically protects our body from cancer. However, there is STRONG evidence to suggest that a diet filled with a variety of foods, especially veggies, fruits, and beans DOES help lower any cancer risk.

Like we have heard hundreds of times, it is a combination of diet and exercise. If it was so easy, we would all go for that walk daily and eat correctly. However, we mere mortals are whipped by the allure of fast food, and if only willpower was as easy to find as a sugary delight.

However, all is not lost. And if you really do want to give yourself a fighting chance, one tiny step is all you need to take today. And one tiny step tomorrow. And before you know it, you are a thousand steps from where you started.

Someone once said to me: "Everything you put into your mouth is either poison or medicine... the choice is ALWAYS yours!". Makes you think, doesn't it?

Also, don't be so hard on yourself, if you find yourself indulging in your craving... chill! Don't let yourself be riddled with guilt. You can be certain that the toxins from your negative thoughts will be worse for your body than a little sugar.
