Keri's healthy drinks for summer

The average adult human body is made up of 50-65% water. Getting in enough liquid is not just important, but imperative... especially in summer!
Here is a list of four of the best - and healthiest, drinks for you:
1. Good Quality Water
It's so important that the quality of your water is good. Getting a filter system at home can be expensive, but you won't regret it.
Other options are refilling your water bottles, there are many places in KZN that refill your bottles with fluoride and chemical free water for just R1 a liter.
TIP: add a slice of lemon to your water to give your immune system a boost and metabolism a kickstart.

2. Coconut Water
Coconut water is an ideal drink for weight loss, it makes a great energy drink and it is delicious! It is low in calories and easy on the stomach. In fact, this light and refreshing drink contains various bioactive enzymes that aid digestion and boost fat metabolism. Plus, coconut water is rich in potassium, which helps balance out sodium. Look at the ingredients always, look for 100% pure coconut water.
"Kefir is a fermented drink, traditionally made using cow’s milk or goat’s milk. It is made by adding kefir “grains” to milk. Yogurt is the best known probiotic food in the Western diet, but kefir is actually a much more potent source."
4. Rooibos Tea
South Africa's 'Champagne' because you ONLY FIND IT HERE!! The Health benefits of red rooibos tea include its use as a cure for nagging headaches, insomnia, asthma, eczema, bone weakness, hypertension, allergies, and premature aging.
The tea is free from caffeine and is also low in tannins. Try it black with a touch of honey and/or a slice of lemon.

In Summer, brew the tea and leave it in the fridge to cool and enjoy as iced tea.
