"If someone had to say to me that South African fans were unlawful and uncouth, I would have to agree," says Sky Tshabalala.

Many were left shocked and distraught after Durban hosted two football giants in the Nedbank Cup semi-final at the Moses Mabhida stadium this past weekend.

The exhilarating match saw Free State Stars beat Kaizer Chiefs by two goals.

According to Timeslive, police and stadium security were overrun as fans invaded the pitch at the end of the game, heading directly for embattled Chiefs coach Steve Komphela, who quit immediately after the game.

A security guard has been hospitalised and is in a critical condition along with other fans and officials.

The damages are estimated at around R3-million for just audio equipment, which was used for the match entertainment. Speakers around the field were kicked to pieces, and according to technicians, several items were stolen.

"At the end of the day, when they wake up this morning, the score will remain the same. PSL we appeal to you, make a big statement, fine the club, make the club educate their fans. They can't be doing this kind of stuff," adds Tshabalala.

Time will tell what the repercussions will be following this devastating end to a beautiful game of football.
