#HotSeat: Meet new hot Sharks player Jacques Potgieter
Earlier this year the Cell C Sharks announced the signing of former Blue Bulls star from the Waratahs. We have a chat with Jacques Potgieter and put him on the hot seat.
Over the last few years he has made steady progress up the ranks with his sheer physical presence and explosiveness, which resulted in a Springbok call-up in 2012.
In 2015 got himself in a spot of bother after making homophobic remarks during a match against the Brumbies which he later on issued an apology.
Potgieter admitted to making the comments. “I’m very sorry for any offence caused by what I said on the field during a heated encounter,” Potgieter said. “It was an offhand remark made without thought for the hurt it could cause to those around me.”
All that has been forgotten and Potgieter is now back in the South African rugby scene where he belongs.
He is engaged to Angelique Gerber who is a South African actress who was born, lives and works in Johannesburg although she stayed in Canada from 2001 to 2002 for the shooting of Disposable Life.
