French shoppers riot over their beloved chocolate spread

A riot broke out in France when everyone's favourite chocolate spread, Nutella, went on sale. Could this be the 'sweetest' riot ever?

It is no secret that the French love their sweet treats, so much so that a riot broke out when Intermarché, a chain of French supermarkets, lowered the price of their Nutella jars by 70%, chopping the price down from €4.50 (R66) to €1.40 (R21).
Shoppers across France displayed their absolute unconditional love for the jar of sweet goodness by fighting, pulling each other's hair, and calling each other the worst kinds of names just to get their hands on a bottle of their precious hazelnut and chocolate spread.
Some of the fights were so hectic that police had to be called in to try and turn the sticky situation around.
