1. 

After leader Vladimir Putin announced a "partial mobilisation" of citizens for his faltering invasion of Ukraine, more than 1,300 people were detained across Russia for participating in nationwide anti-war protests, with some directly conscripted into the military. That’s just execution with extra steps.

On Thursday, Eskom announced that Stage 5 loadshedding will remain in place until 05:00 on Saturday morning.

3. 

PUBG, the battle royale game, will be banned in Afghanistan in 90 days as the Taliban says it is a waste of time and too violent. Also, more than 400 civilians have been killed by the Taliban since their takeover.

5. 

Interest rates are back at pre-pandemic levels after the SA Reserve Bank hiked rates by 75 basis points.
