Fabregas a good example to kids
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Cesc Fabregas showed maturity by not retaliating when Manchester City's Fernadinho strangled him.
We witnessed ugly scenes towards the end of Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Manchester City.
Manchester City players got frustrated when it dawned on them that there was no way they could make a comeback and their tempers got the better of them.
After Sergio Kun Aguero tackled David Luiz in a vicious manner, a brawl ensued.
Fernadinho could clearly be seen squeezing Fabregas' neck but the Spaniard kept calm and never retaliated.
For parents that was the perfect time to explain to their children that violence is not good and it is punishable. I'm glad that the officials took a stand and sent Fernadinho off. He has also been suspended for a further three games.
I was watching with my son and I said to him "look, what Fernadinho and Aguero did cost their team because they are now reduced to nine men and Fabregas is still on the pitch because he didn't hit back. Had he retaliated he'd also have been sent off."
We must acknowledge that Fabregas is not a coward but he has respect for his opponents, fans, his team and the beautiful game at large.
