Eggs Benedict: My crazy gliding experience

Eggs Benedict: My crazy gliding experience

What do you do when a pilot talks about you, in your presence, thinking you're someone else? That happened to me over the weekend.

So, this past weekend I got to experience one of the things I've always wanted to do - gliding. The whole experience took place in Howick. It was scary but very enjoyable.

From up in the air I could see Howick Falls, Midmar Dam, the N3, and Pietermaritzburg. If you thought normal airplane turbulence was scary, you clearly haven't tried gliding.

The highlight of the whole trip for me was the pilot who didn't realise I came in an hour earlier and I did the paperwork while he was flying other people around. When I got into the plane, I was wearing a cap and I didn't introduce myself properly because I was lost in the excitement.

After getting instructed and running a few tests, we took off. Guess what! While we were up in the air, he was busy telling me how he will be flying the East Coast Radio football guru an hour or two later. When I took off my hat, he was flabbergasted!

Let me be perfectly honest, as a guy that grew up on the outskirts of Pongola herding cattle and hunting, I didn't care about nature and beautiful views. I've always thought it was a white people's thing, but now I want to do this thing more often.

I hope I don't suffer what they call 'Aviation Induced Divorce Syndrome' in the long run.

In case you don't know what gliding is, watch the quick description below:

It obviously wouldn't have been an Eggs Benedict flight without some crazy pictures:
