In this hour long docuseries, actress Leah Remini turns investigative reporter to "share the shocking truth about Scientology," the secretive, controversial church that Remini herself was a member of for years.
The Church of Scientology says that a human is an immortal, spiritual being (thetan) that is resident in a physical body. The thetan has had innumerable past lives and it is observed in advanced Scientology texts that lives preceding the thetan's arrival on Earth were lived in extraterrestrial cultures
Scientologists basically believe in a form of reincarnation, "through a process known as “auditing”. Scientology claims to be able to
cleanse people of these hidden traumas, returning them to a state of
unlimited ability" - The Sun
There are many famous Scientologists, including Tom Cruise, John Travolta, Kirstie Alley and Lisa Marie Presley.
Despite the tremendous success on season one of the series which earned Leah an Emmy Award, it
was not well received by the public and Scientologists are claiming the
documentary series is inciting threats and acts of violence against
members of the church.
Leah Remini, along with high level former Scientology executives and Church members, explores individual accounts from ex-Church members and their families through meetings and interviews with Leah.
Season two of Leah Remini: Scientology and the Aftermath airs on A&E TV.
