Through their years of experience in the radio industry, each of them has learnt different things. They each shared quick and useful tips on how kids can perfect their demo and speaking on air.

Darren Maule's on-air tips for kids:

  • Be yourself
  • Have fun
  • Talk like you’re on a WhatsApp call with your bestie.

Keri Miller's on-air tips for presenting:

  • Smile when you talk, it makes such a difference
  • Watch your speed, because you're nervous it's really easy to start talking way too fast. Slow down!
  • Don't try and copy your favourite presenter or celebrity, we already have one Darren, we certainly don't need two.
  • Bonus tip: Eliminate filler words from your vocab. Things like, 'um', 'like', 'ya so'. Those words take up time when you could be saying something meaningful.
  • Most importantly, have fun - if it's not fun, it's not for you.

Sky Tshabalala's on-air tips for presenting:

  • Be authentic, be yourself
  • Don't overcomplicate it, keep it simple - 'Less is more'
  • Just because you on the radio, it doesn't mean you are a star. You make yourself the star and you use radio.
