Benedict trolls Darren and Sky over Chiefs and Sundowns results
Updated | By Benedict Ngwenya
Darren Maule and Sky Tshabalala had a hard time in the studio this morning as Benedict Ngwenya teased them over their teams' MTN8 results.
I was thrilled when Sky and Darren's teams were eliminated from the MTN8, as I could divert the attention from Orlando Pirates' poor performances for a second. Listen to the podcast and read more in the blog below.
Sky's Kaizer Chiefs were narrowly beaten 1-0 by SuperSport United at Moses Mabhida Stadium and Darren Maule's Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a shock 1-0 defeat at the hands of Maritzburg United.
This presented a golden opportunity for bitter Benedict, whose Orlando Pirates didn't even qualify for the tournament, to hit back, because he has been teased about that.
We also discussed Cristiano Ronaldo's five-match ban, which I think is deserved, but it is a consequence of a poor refereeing decision.
Ronaldo was sent off for a second bookable offence. The first one was for taking his shirt off after scoring in Real Madrid's emphatic 3-1 victory over Barcelona, and the other one was for going down in the box after a shoulder-to-shoulder challenge.
I totally disagree with the second yellow card because I think Ronaldo was fouled and he deserved a penalty. The least the referee could have done was look at it as a physical battle CR7 lost and just let play continue.
To add insult to injury, at the other end of the pitch, Barcelona were awarded a penalty after Luis Suarez's dive.
