1. Pfizer to request COVID-19 vaccine approval within days
Pfizer is expected to apply within days for the first U.S. regulatory authorisation for a coronavirus shot after its final analysis of clinical-trial data showed its COVID-19 vaccine is 95% effective. The drugmaker and its partner BioNTech said the shot protects people of all ages and ethnicities with no significant problems so far.

2. 'My Octopus Teacher' bags two awards at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards
The South African Documentary, 'My Octopus Teacher', has won two awards at the Critics Choice Documentary Awards. The Netflix film, directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed, was the only film to win more than one trophy - Winning the categories Best Science/Nature Documentary and Best Cinematography.

3. Tyre explodes while being filled with air, damages bakkie
A Ford Ranger bakkie was damaged after a tractor tyre burst while being filled with air at a petrol station in Verulam - all while a man was sitting in it! According to Prem Balram, director of Reaction Unit SA, one of their officers was patrolling the area when he heard the explosion. He also said, remarkably, no injuries were reported.

4. Michael B. Jordan is People's 'Sexiest Man Alive' 2020
Michael B. Jordan is officially a member of the hottest men's club. The 'Creed' actor has been named People's 'Sexiest Man Alive'. He takes over the title from singer John Legend. Michael revealed that his late grandmother was a big fan of the magazine and the annual list.

5. New Zealand Police introduce hijab to uniform
New Zealand Police have introduced a hijab into their official uniform to encourage more Muslim women to join. New recruit Constable Zeena Ali will become the first officer to wear the official hijab. She wanted to join the police force after the Christchurch terror attack.
