This common crime is often overlooked, leading to more stolen valuables.

Criminals waiting for car owners to leave their vehicles and then unlocking them without their knowledge isn't a new crime trend.
Although it is a common practice, especially in public spots like malls and petrol stations, many car owners still overlook it.
The trend came not long after remote car jamming became popular. Some might say this was in response to motorists becoming aware of car jamming.
After arming their vehicles, many car owners checked to see if their doors were locked. We imagine this didn't sit well with criminals now facing a hurdle.
Criminals began hovering around, preying on unsuspecting motorists in various public spaces. This is another reason security companies urge people not to leave their belongings in their vehicles.
In a social media video, we see how easy it is for a criminal to steal a laptop from a man's vehicle at a petrol station.
The footage shows the victim pulling up next to a silver VW Polo at the petrol station. Unaware of his surroundings, the man who was getting out of his car didn't notice the thief in the Polo unlocking his passenger-side car door.
The thief casually walked toward the convenience store, assessed his surroundings, opened the man's car, and walked off to his car with what looked like a laptop.
While many people take their surroundings for granted, you must always remain vigilant. Criminals pounce when you least expect it.
