"Why oh why would a pupil do this to a teacher? Videos like this just anger me," says Damon Beard.

According to Times Live, a 30-second video of a Grade 9 pupil from a high school in Kimberley, Northern Cape is blowing up the internet after he was caught on camera throwing water in his teacher's face.

In the video, you see the student having a little conversation with his teacher all while holding a plastic bottle filled with water in his hand.

The student says: "You're a great teacher ma'm..." and then suddenly throws the water in her face while other pupils cheer in the background. She promptly gets off her chair and throws the bottle aside. It is reported that the student will be facing disciplinary action following the incident.

The video has been met with outrage on social media.

"If I was the parent I would really question my own parenting ability. My child would probably be dead by now & I would be in jail. There is no reason that kids should behave like this in school. Teachers dont know what to do. What of kid of future generation our we raising?" said Goldie Tsie.

While Beldred Matywatywa added: "This is the results of abolishment of corporal punishment & giving school kids too many rights. Back in the days we used to be scared of the teacher if you didn't do your assignments or homework. Nowadays kids can misbehave & get away with it."

It really disgusted me to watch this video. Is this what our educators have to deal with when trying to help learners? What makes it worse for me is how the rest of the class cheer and sit back and laugh as this happens. Absolutely infuriating!
