Pets are part of the family, there's no doubt about it. If you are an animal person then you can understand what we mean. So, of course, when you see your furry friends ill, there is an immediate pull on those heart strings...

It's a no-brainer...

When we heard about this woman's story, it knocked us down a bit, considering that she used her pet for monetary gain. And that too, in the worst way. Her dog passed away in August 2021.

"However, Sudo made at least three updates on social media between October 29 and December 13 last year, claiming that she was still holding on to hope that her dog would pull through, and seeking more donations." (Business Insider)

Sudo admitted that she did in fact carry out the scam to cover her late dog's vet bills. But that by no means makes it right. Her crowdfunding page said the following: "Toi has a severe heart disease, I don't want to give up because I don't have enough money."

"Of course, all the support we received during the rest of the recruitment period will be used for Toi's medical expenses. If the treatment costs listed above do not exceed the amount you have supported, we will use the remainder for future vet examinations and medicines for Toi." (Business Insider)

She accumulated a total of 1,844,500 Japanese yen (or roughly R245,000). Now that is a true indication of how people are willing to put their money next to their hearts when it comes to helping out for a 'good' cause.

Have you ever lied about something to get money? You can tell us, we won't judge...
