We have all heard and even reminisced over monkey stories in the Durban and surrounding areas of KwaZulu-Natal. Some stories have a sense of humour, when newbies get initiated into the province.

While other stories are an actual problem for some neighbourhoods. As more land is becoming developed, the more monkeys we are seeing coming into and occupying the residential areas.

It's sort of an evolutionary problem, and we would rather steer clear of that topic. But on that note, the most common tendencies that we see of these clever creatures is that they are not just smart and resourceful, but they are also quite playful.

A video that has been circulating on the net recently proved that they are not just playful with us humans though. Stories of stolen food from kitchen tops to being brave enough to break into homes, these animals are certainly a force to be reckoned with.

We are keen to know what happened after this; if the leopard actually waited the monkey out? But just this clip was entertaining enough to us. It showed that sometimes in life, it's not always advisable to judge a book by its cover.

In this case, the monkey gave the leopard a good run of playfulness. Similar to the mongoose that showed its feisty attitude to a black mamba last week in Westville.
