When all else fails, you can always blame the monkeys...But to what extent?

Monkeys have become part of our everyday lives, and while they may cause mayhem, they aren't always to blame.

Well, not according to this young girl, who used them as a scapegoat after her mother found lipstick stains all over the bathroom. Prabashini Moodley shared a video on social media showing off the crime scene in her bathroom.

She scanned the room and found that her pristinely white bathroom had turned pink. The reason behind the shades of pink was her missing MAC lipstick. But it wasn't so much what was used in the unwarranted redesign of her bathroom, but who was behind the decorating.

When she turned to her toddler, who was also the lead suspect, she was first told that the culprit was 'Lika', her classmate. When Mom probed with her questioning, her little girl was adamant that she was not behind the mess – despite her pink hands.

She accused her classmate, Lika and said his dad saw him do it in his mother's bathroom. Mom persisted with her interrogation and asked again if she did it, but her daughter stuck to her guns and said, "No, I didn't do it."

Eventually, the girl changed her story and blamed it on "the monkey"...

Moodley, a seasoned journalist, was calm, cool, and collected. Even with all her experience, she seemed to know she couldn't get a full confession in this case.

Social media users praised her calm approach. One person wrote, "You are such a good, calm mom."

"The pink hands are a giveaway. She's too adorable."

Others defended the little girl and stood behind her testimony.

"Honestly, we believe all four versions of her story."

"She’s innocent…we believe her."

"Despite the evidence, the jury says she is innocent!"
