Carol Ofori has admitted that this week was about celebrating good food, good people, and staying warm under the blanket. She has given you all full permission to do the same. Treat yourself to the things you deserve this weekend, because weekends are for relaxing and unwinding.

For Carol, this cold weather warrants getting under the covers, having a sip of your favourite wine, enjoying a good movie or binge watching your fav series and enjoying comfort food (she's still searching for her pepperoni pizza)...

We think that if you follow these top tips you too can enjoy a fun weekend even though the cold may keep you indoors. There's always something to do when it comes to being indoors. If lockdown taught us anything, it's that we can be creative and innovative when it comes to making the best of what we have.

1. Warm up - Pull out all the warm clothing, and make sure everyone's toes are all toasty and warm. No one likes a cold foot under the warmth of a blankie.

2. Food and drink - Make a jug of hot chocolate or your favourite warm drink. So you don't fall short on keeping warm, remember staying warm on the inside is just as important. Get your comfort food on, whether that is pizza, a hearty soup or a spicy curry, get your food sorted for the weekend so you don't spend too much time in the kitchen, away from the covers.

3. Celebrate your inner kid - If you would like to build a fort in front of the TV, then so be it. If it means you would like to bring out all the board games, then go for it. The aim of this is to make this time special for you and for the kids.

4. Device free - Use this opportunity to detach from your mobile devices. Take advantage of the cold weather and use this as your excuse to take a fast away from your phone or tablet or whatever device you feel attached to. You never know, this may also reduce your stress and anxiety, unconsciously.

5. Play - A recent study revealed that playing can help develop your child's brain. So use the cold weather as your way to make up a game with the kids. Get creative. Whether it is hide-and-seek or peekaboo, use this opportunity to play and to escape from the outside world.
