A wonderful story about a young man who is making the best of his circumstances...
Life can be many things but remaining grateful can be the answer to living a fulfilled life. To remind us of that, we saw a story befitting this Thankful Tuesday.
A young boy from Limpopo is so talented artistically, but it doesn't end there. 13-year-old Thapelo Masha, is a grade 9 pupil who has always loved art and drawing. However, he didn't really know the depths of his talent until his teacher told him...
Smart and humble...
His story shows us that with support you can discover and grow your talents. For him it was a combined effort of support and guidance. It was his mother who encouraged him to evolve from drawing on the ground to paper, and his Grade 3 teacher who made him aware of what his talent meant.
When passing school he would stop to buy pencils and erasers (even though they were not of the quality he required for his artwork). He wasn't one to buy sweets and chocolates...
Thapelo told Drum Magazine, "My love for art come from a long way and it makes me feel like I own the world every time I draw. Everything that I draw it is from the heart and how I feel at that moment, so that is why I did not mind." (News24-Drum)
Thapelo finds inspiration from everything, including his brother's textbooks. And isn't that what great artists do, draw inspiration from everything and anything. The best part is that he celebrates his artwork and his talent by showcasing his work on the streets.
This has prompted many people into hiring him for their own bespoke projects including self portraits.
