After the recent waterspout recording in Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), which spread on social media like wildfire, we can confidently say that no one would want to be anywhere near a brewing storm.

But in countries like the United States of America (USA), some people chase storms for a living or as a hobby. Most South Africans admit they will run when they see a storm, but storm chasers do the opposite; they run toward the action.

An American couple, who are professional storm chasers might have the most epic proposal story to date.

Bryce Shelton proposed to his girlfriend Paige Berdomas on 28 June in one of the craziest proposal stories. He dropped to one knee during an EF-3 tornado that swirled behind them near Clear Lake, South Dakota!

The professional storm chasers met each other in the weather community. Shelton had been carrying the engagement ring for 18 weeks, waiting for the perfect moment.

"That moment arrived when a tornado touched down during their chase, providing a breathtaking backdrop for the proposal. Later, the couple met with fellow storm chaser Brandon Copic to capture a commemorative photo in front of another striking tornado," reads an Instagram post.

Berdomas was unaware of his intentions and was pleasantly surprised by his romantic gesture.
