There's a lot to be said about young boys who are able to break social taboos and follow what they believe to be right.

It not only gives us a sense of hope for the future generations, but it also fills us up knowing what type of men they are becoming. One of those young boys who is making the world a better place is 13-year-old Izah Roux.

After finding out that many schoolgirls missed school due to not having sanitary pads, he set out on a mission.

"Research shows underprivileged girls miss up to 50 days of school a year due to inaccessible feminine hygiene care. Durban Prep (DPHS) learner, Izah Roux, donated hundreds of sanitary pads to pupils at St Augustine’s School for girls." (IOL)

This young man wanted to make a difference in his community by helping young girls who were affected by their circumstances. Besides collecting 500 packs of pads with his brother, Akani, he went on to use his water polo team to help collect more.

According to IOL, he said: "I don’t like staying at home for anything and knew I needed to do something to help other kids. I’m also the kind of person who dreams about changing the world, so I believe in showing people kindness and trying to really understand other people’s problems."

After making a pledge to bid 10 packs of sanitary pads for every goal he saved during his tournament - and managing to save 48 goals, his mission attracted attention from Engen.

They donated a year's supply of sanitary pads to 268 schoolgirls from grade 4 to grade 7 at the Rippon Primary School in Durban.

Today we choose to appreciate the actions of this young man, because his actions are what will change our world.
