A questionable new trend: wigs for children
Updated | By Udesha Moodley-Judhoo
Wigs on kids...Is this a topic that needs a public service announcement, or should we all mind our business and keep our opinions to ourselves?

That's the thing about parenting, there's a fine line between judgement and judgement, if you know, you know and if you don't, then you will find out once you become a parent.
Someone will always have an opinion on how you parent, whether you asked for it or not.
Parents have come under fire for things such as giving their children ice cream or fizzy drinks from a young age, to allowing them to have excessive screen time.
While the scrutiny might be warranted in some cases, is there a boundary line? And if it does exist, how do we differentiate between things we should have an opinion about and things we can let slide?
There's no right or wrong answer. Humans are naturally wired to be opinionated, whether parents or non-parents. Some things are bad, or we should choose a middle ground and say 'questionable'.
A recent trend that has placed parents in the hot seat has everything to do with 'baby wigs'. While some have jokingly embraced the trend online, others have taken it too far.
The mother below shared how she bought a baby wig for her six-week-old daughter for fun.
She wrote, "6 weeks in and Lola’s already learning one very important lesson: 1. We never take ourselves too seriously, laughing is the way forward, always!"

Some still threw shade at her despite her disclaimer of having fun. One person wrote, "What kind of mom are you? Make fun of the baby, and then that weird wig. Wait until she's older, and you tell her you made this video."
For the most part, people in her comments were lighthearted and got the fun in it.
While this mother was open about it being for laughs and giggles, several other mothers are invested in purchasing baby wigs to elevate their babies' looks.
Check out this mother who bought a baby wig for her daughter's first birthday party. This was outrageous because it looked like the hair technician was applying glue to the child's hairline to keep the wig in place.

- "This poor child. Someone take her away from any guardian who would do this."
- "What on earth are those parents thinking, letting their child look like that? She’s only 1 year old—let her be a baby! Putting a wig on her is beyond ridiculous."
