The pandemic reminded us of many things, but the one thing it really pushed people into thinking about is medical care. The cost of medical care is by far one of the things that many people stress about on a daily basis.

Finding money to pay for medical care can be difficult, if not impossible for some. Traditionally, it was advisable to get onto a medical aid, which offers individuals and families medical cover at designated medical professionals.

However the thing with medical aid is that it can be quite pricey, considering it escalates annually. So we have to say that it has been a great help for many people with companies introducing medical health insurance.

Most recently, it was Dis-Chem. We know and trust Dis-Chem for their expertise in the pharmacy field, but they have also catered for consumers' wellness and lifestyle needs at their stores.

"Dis-Chem Pharmacies has launched Dis-Chem Health, a health insurance offering with premiums starting at R431 per month for the Core plan and increasing to R591 per month for the Plus plan with additional cover options available for accident and medical emergency illness cover." (Business Tech)

At first glance, these prices are well worth it, even if you are just taking advantage of the day-to-day benefits. Because on average a trip to your local GP can cost between R250 and R650 for a consultation.

It's important to note that medical health insurance does not offer the same benefits as a medical scheme (medical aid). But this is a great option for those who cannot afford medical aid membership.

If you are interested in learning more about the Dis-Chem medical health insurance, you can visit their website here. If you fill out the contact form, then someone will call you back to answer all your questions.
