Mom shares the secret to a cost-effective school holiday

The real question isn't how to get the kids to stop eating everything in sight during the holidays, it's why you're stocking up the kitchen in the first place.

The school holidays are torturous for some parents who are not shy about sharing their dilemmas online

It's like the parents and guardians form support groups to relieve the anguish they feel having the kids at home during the long school holidays.

We recently saw this on a post by a KZN content creator, Giggzy, who shared his frustrations about having an empty kitchen after just one week of the school break. His video got 1.5 million views and had a host of parents and guardians dish on their family youngins' as they gobbled away at the designated holiday food.

Meanwhile, a Johannesburg mother and content creator put things into perspective for the complainers.

Sadie Rhode Torquato, a mother of three with all the secrets up her sleeves, came to the kids' defence and wouldn't let anyone get away with blaming them for their 'grazing' as she calls it.

Taking to Instagram, she addressed the parents' complaints about their kids finishing all the food by asking a pivotal question: "Why is your kitchen stocked up in the first place?"

If you were sitting holding your head in worry after seeing your cupboards empty, then after watching this video, you might feel like you need to catch a wake-up because you've been playing your hand all wrong.

Check out her video from Instagram below. Her post reads: "I made them pancakes for breakfast so that only 2 eggs were used today. Chess, not checkers."
