Little boy puts his puppy in a shoe because it's cold
Winter is here...
Now we know that Durban is known as the city that celebrates the sun throughout the year, but you have to admit that Winter is here and making its presence known.
And, if anything, since we live in a city that is sunny all year round, we definitely do take advantage of any opportunity to wear our warm clothes.
But this young man reminded us that even our pets get cold.

In a cute debut video to his TikTok account that is managed by his mom, he shares his name and announces that he has a puppy.
When mum asks why he has the puppy in a shoe.
He responded by saying: "Because it's cold."
This got us thinking about the chilly nights and early mornings that we are experiencing in KZN as Winter pays us a visit.
And we wanted to share some handy tips on making sure your pets, in particular your pups, are equipped for the cold season.

Some handy tips to follow for puppies in general include:
1. As far as possible, keep your dogs indoors at night and early morning when the temperatures are at their coldest.
2. Consider winter dog apparel for pups or smaller dogs, especially if your dog has a light coat, in other words not that hairy, because their coats help a lot to keep them warm.
3. Do not overfeed your dogs. Making sure they are well-fed is important, but overfeeding may cause them to become overweight and that's never a good thing.
4. Don't rush to trim their hair. As you know their fur is a primary source of keeping them warm. So, a haircut can wait.
